Muredach Tuffy is a priest of the Diocese of Killala. He was ordained in Castleconnor in 1999. He studied for the priesthood at St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth, where he obtained B.A. (Hons) and B.D. (Hons) degrees. He aslo completed his S.T.L. there as a post-graduate in 2000. He was appointed director of The Newman Institute in 2003 and has overseen the development and completion of the new building project which opened in April of 2009. During the last six years he has endeavoured to establish important educational and social links with other service providers in the West of Ireland.


In 2006 he was appointed as Curate of Rathduff in the Parish of Backs. He is also the Diocesan Director of Pastoral Renewal and Adult Faith Development, Diocesan Vocations Director, and Diocesan Communications Officer, and a member of the Diocesan Liturgy and Music Commission.


He also lectures on the Diploma in Theology and is available to parishes for pre-sacramental preparation talks and for the training of new Parish Pastoral Councils.

Rev. Dr. Michael Gilroy, B.A., B.Soc. Sc., M.Th., Ph.D

Michael Gilroy is a priest of the Killala Diocese. He was ordained in Enniscrone in 1994.
He studied for the priesthood at St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth. Since ordination, he completed a Bachelor of Social Science (Hons) degree (UCC), Masters in Theology (Hons) (Maynooth) and was conferred with the Ph.D in Theology by the Pontifical University, Maynooth in 2007. His doctoral thesis is entitled: Liturgical Space: Recognising the Priesthood of the Baptised.


He lectures on the Diploma course as well as co-ordinating the study programme.
Previous pastoral appointments include Ballina (CC 1994), Glenhest (CC 2001), Belmullet (CC 2005), Kilcommon (Co-Pastor 2007). In September 2008 he was appointed to the staff of St. Muredach’s College, Ballina where he currently serves as Chaplain and RE Teacher. In September 2009, he was appointed as Curate in the parish of Ballina.


He is a member of the Episcopal Commission for Sacred Art and Architecture, the Diocesan Liturgy and Music Commission, and is Diocesan Master of Ceremonies.
